At Blue Delta School, your child’s safety, health, and happiness are our top priorities. We know that healthy children learn best. That’s why we’re committed to working with parents and caregivers to promote good health practices that keep our school community safe, strong, and thriving.
When Should Your Child Stay Home?
Some illnesses spread easily in a busy classroom. We ask parents to keep children home if they have:
✔️ Chickenpox, measles, mumps, rubella, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, scarlet fever, impetigo, conjunctivitis
✔️ Cholera, diarrhoea, vomiting, malaria, typhoid, TB
✔️ Lice infestation, scabies, ringworm (if widespread)
✔️ Sickle cell crisis, serious injuries requiring rest and healing
We also understand there are conditions that don’t usually require staying home if managed well, such as epilepsy, asthma (except during severe attacks), diabetes (with stable blood sugar), and developmental conditions.
Our guide explains clearly when to rest, when to return to class, and when to consult a doctor. We want to make these decisions as easy as possible for parents.
Supporting Daily Readiness to Learn
Beyond illness, daily wellbeing matters. Please help your child arrive ready to learn by:
✅ Ensuring they have eaten before school
✅ Packing enough clean water for the day
✅ Sending simple, healthy snacks and lunch
We recommend nutritious options like fruit, boiled eggs, crackers, vegetables, yogurt, and homemade sandwiches over sugary drinks or sweets.
If you’re struggling to provide food, please talk with us confidentially. We’re here to help without judgment.
Personal Hygiene Matters
Clean, confident kids learn better! Please help your child:
✔️ Bathe daily and brush teeth
✔️ Wear clean uniforms and clothing
✔️ Use deodorant if over age 8–9 (as needed)
✔️ Bring freshly washed water bottles, lunch boxes, and bags
Teaching children to care for themselves builds pride and independence.
Safe, Supportive School Environment
We cannot provide medical care for open wounds, bandages, or stitches in a busy classroom. Please allow your child time to heal fully before returning.
Medication must be handed directly to the school nurse, with clear instructions. For safety reasons, no other staff member is allowed to manage medication.
We’re Here to Help
Parenting isn’t always easy, and we understand. If you’re ever unsure about what to do, or need support, please contact the school admin team.
Together, let’s keep Blue Delta School a true Citadel of Excellence—where every child is safe, healthy, and ready to thrive.
